FAQs
We understand that transforming your outdoor space is a big decision — and you may have lots of questions. Below are some of the most common things clients ask when working with us.
General Questions
-
Using a garden designer ensures your outdoor space is carefully planned to reflect your personal style, meet your practical needs, and thrive in its environment. They combine creativity, horticultural expertise, and spatial planning to create a garden that’s both beautiful and sustainable, saving you time, money, and frustration in the long run.
-
A landscaper is great for executing and building the physical elements of your garden, like patios and fences. However, if you want a thoughtfully designed space that balances aesthetics, functionality, and long-term plant health, a garden designer is usually the better choice to create the vision before the landscaper brings it to life.

Design Process
-
Here’s a quick overview:
Initial consultation – We meet on-site to discuss your ideas, needs, and the garden’s potential.
Concept design – This is the initial design. We create a visual plan showing layout, style, and key features.
Detailed design & master planning – This phase involves the production of more detailed and technical drawings and plans so that the garden can be built and meets any planning requirements.
Build & install – We can manage the landscaping ourselves or work with trusted contractors.
Aftercare – We provide maintenance guides and optional follow-up visits.
-
Design fees vary depending on the size and complexity of the project. After your initial consultation, we’ll provide a fixed quote tailored to your garden and scope.
-
Absolutely. If your garden layout works well but you need help with plant selection or border redesign, we offer stand-alone planting plans and sourcing services.
Landscaping & Build
-
Yes, we provide both. We can either manage the full design-and-build process or work alongside trusted landscapers to bring your design to life. All construction is completed to the highest professional standards.
-
Yes. If you already have a contractor you trust, we’re happy to collaborate with them. We can also remain involved during the build phase to ensure the design is implemented correctly.
-
It depends on the scope. A full redesign can take several weeks to design and a few more to build. We’ll give you a clear timeline at the start of the project, so you know what to expect.
-
Most garden enhancements like planting, lawns and paths don’t need planning permission, but structures such as large sheds, fences, patios, or decking might. It’s best to check with your local council, or we can manage any planning implications on your behalf.
Plants & Maintenance
-
Yes. Our planting design considers your soil type, light levels, maintenance preferences and seasonal interest. We can also supply the plants and place them on-site for planting.
-
While we don’t provide routine garden maintenance, we do offer seasonal reviews, care guides, and planting support. We can also recommend trusted gardeners in your area.
Booking & Availability
-
We typically book projects a few weeks to a few months in advance, depending on the season. Spring and summer fill up quickly, so we recommend getting in touch early to secure your slot.
